At the age of 34, Millicent Amankwah Yeboah has established a significant role in Ghana’s political arena, representing Sunyani West in the Ninth Parliament.
In addition to her position as a legislator, Mrs. Amankwah Yeboah is the spouse of Mahama Ayariga, the Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, a fact that gained attention during her husband’s vetting by the Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

Millicent Amankwah Yeboah’s Journey to Parliament
Millicent Amankwah Yeboah is one of the more youthful representatives of Ghana’s Ninth Parliament. She reached that status based on her own campaign efforts, vying for the Sunyani West seat under the National Democratic Congress banner in the December 2024 general election.
She challenged the sitting Ignatius Baffour-Awuah of the New Patriotic Party and achieved a resounding victory, garnering 26,828 votes, equating to 57.64% of the legitimate votes cast. Baffour-Awuah polled 19,715 votes, accounting for 42.36%.
Her prior experience before joining Parliament was deeply entrenched in the business sector. She served as a branch manager at Verna Mineral Water before becoming the Managing Director at MEA Connect Consultants.
She attended the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana (KNUST) and studied also at the University of Law in the United Kingdom.
Millicent Amankwah: Charting Her Own Path
Since assuming her position, Amankwah Yeboah has undertaken committee responsibilities, participating in the Employment, Labor Relations and Pensions Committee, where she addressed issues related to employment and workplace regulations.
Her role in Parliament is notably atypical. She and Ayariga, the veteran Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, are associates in the same legislative body, as well as legislative colleagues in the House.
Her story is characterized not by her spouse’s long political tenure, but by a campaign she orchestrated, a position she secured, and a legacy she is now establishing independently.
