The Bundesliga champions have reached a total agreement with Liverpool to sign striker Sadio Mané for a transfer fee of €40m. Liverpool rejected Bayern’s first bid of €30m for the striker as it was deemed insufficient. Bayern improved their offer to €40m and the Anfield club accepted.
Bayern will pay €32m guaranteed fee for Sadio Mané. Liverpool will also receive add-ons, for a maximum of potential €40m total fee package.
Sadio Mané has already agreed personal terms with Bayern. He will sign a three year contract with the club keeping him at the club until June 2025. He is scheduled to undergo his medicals on Tuesday morning in Munich.
Player Profile
Sadio Mané, 30 years of age, is a Senegalese International. He was born in Sédhiou in Senegal. He started his career at Generational Foot in Senegal. He was transferred to FC Metz B side in 2011. In January 2012, he was promoted to Metz senior team in the French League. Red Bull Salzburg signed him from Metz in August 2012 for a transfer fee of €4m. Mané played in the Austrian league for two years and got signed by Premier league side, Southampton.
Southampton paid €23m for the Senegalese. His impressive performance in the Premier League for Southampton got him attracted to several clubs, notable among them were Manchester United and Liverpool. He agreed personal terms with Manchester United and was almost signed by the club, until Jurgen Klopp called him and made him sign for Liverpool in 2016. Liverpool paid a whooping €41.2m for Mané and the rest remain history.
Mané made his intentions clear to the hierarchy of the club that he will not continue his career with them. He was given two contract renewals but he rejected them all, as he felt his time with the club was over. Upon all his impressive performance for the club; helping them to win Champions league, Premier league and FA Cup, he was one of the least paid players in the team, which was quite unfair.
Bayern had a free run for his signature as they were the only club who showed interest in him. He quickly agreed on personal terms and Bayern had to only agree fee with Liverpool, which they have finally.
Bayern on the other hand, will be losing their potent striker, Robert Lewandowski as he has also declared he is leaving the club for Barcelona. So it was very important for the club to get Mané’s deal done early.

Núñez transfer paved way for Mané to leave
Even though Mané made it clear to Liverpool that he wants to leave, Liverpool wanted to get his replacement before they could sanction his sale. The Reds confirmed the signing of 22-year-old Benfica striker Darwin Núñez last week which paved the way for Mané to leave the club. The signing of Núñez means Liverpool have Mané’s replacement for a long term. Núñez signed a contract with the Reds until June 2027.
