Carlos Queiroz has ended his journey with Ghana as the Head coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars in what he referred to as a timeless lesson football teaches everyone.
The 73-year-old in a post on Facebook remarked that it is appropriate for him to end his mission at this stage because a lot of people are unsatisfied with his performance although he feels gaining more success should not be the aim but working towards it should be the final price.
“I leave this journey with pride in what we achieved, but also with the healthy dissatisfaction of those who always wanted more. Reaching a higher level should never be the destination—it should be the beginning of even greater ambitions”, part of his statement read.
The Portuguese national emphasized several suggestions that could steer the Black Stars toward victory, noting that the team’s foundation should extend beyond the pitch. He advocated for the creation of an enabling environment that effectively prepares and nurtures Ghana’s exceptional football talent.
He expressed his gratitude to Kurt Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), along with the entire board, for their generous support since he took on the leadership of the National team.
He also expressed his gratitude for the dedication and commitment of the players and the coaching staff, thanking them sincerely.
In his closing remarks, Carlos Queiroz told the Ghanaian supporters that the sport isn’t always about winning, but that representing their country on a global scale and earning back their respect and credibility should inspire optimism for the future.
