The underlying health condition that caused the death of Master Richard Leonard Sam, a student at KNUST SHS School has been revealed.
According to the result out, Sam, as he’s widely known died of Stomach Ulcer after school authorities looked on while the little boy suffered from severe stomach pains to death.
According to family source, Sam was a day student but had to move to the boarding house after President Akufo-Addo’s directive for all final year students to be in the boarding house.
On Tuesday July 7, 2020 Sam started complaining of stomach pains after breakfast. His friends comforted him that the pains will go down and he will be fine.
However, the pains was unbearable after taking school lunch where Sam was seen rolling all over the ground. Students called on school authorities to assist in conveying Sam to the hospital for medical attention. But teachers who were present at the scene looked unconcerned. The teachers who came around suspected Sam had contracted the virus and for fear of also contracting it, stayed at a distance not concerned of the Sam’s plight.
Students who could not understand the reason why the teachers around were behaving in such a manner, took their friend to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital but the security refused to let them enter upon instructions from the Hospital management that, students who leave the campus on their own are not allowed to enter the hospital.
Sam’s father arrived 2 and a half hours and took his son to the hospital but sadly, he died 30 minutes after admission.
The Headmistress of the school, Patricia Asamoah, has been asked to step aside to allow investigations into the circumstances leading to the death of the student. The Senior housemaster, Mr Owusu Ansah Seth and Anthony Awotwe, housemaster of the Densu House, where the deceased student was have all been asked to step aside.
A committee has been mandated to look into the case leading to the death of the 17 year old boy.
