The Police have initiated an investigation into claims concerning a Chief Inspector of the Service who is accused of renting out unauthorized wooden structures to commercial sex workers.
In a statement, the said location of the structure is at Asafo BB in Kumasi.
The Police Service noted that its investigation will focus mainly on establishing the truth surrounding the allegations.
The investigation was prompted by a recent statement from the Mayor of Kumasi, Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, who disclosed that certain law enforcement officers have developed a pattern of acquiring properties in the bustling area and utilizing them as business fronts to recruit commercial sex workers for prostitution and facilitate the sale of illegal drugs.
His remarks follow the demolition operation conducted by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly at Asafo behind the COCOBOD building, on Wednesday, July 8.
The Police Command further noted that findings of the investigation would be made public.
