It seems the woes of Ghanaian teachers will not end anytime soon after it has been alleged that the Controller and Accountant General’s Department have deducted huge amount from their salaries.
According to a screenshot we have seen, Ghc1,194.63 is the amount deducted from the salaries of teachers.
The controversial deductions include, 100ghc National Teaching Council (NTC) deductions for Teacher License as well as 509.55ghc Teacher Laptop deductions.
These alleged deductions are currently raising some concerns among teachers in the country because according to some of them, the supposed Ghc100 for National Teaching Council (NTC) license renewal was deducted just last year and the next deduction is expected to take place in 2024.
There is also a concern about the income tax which is Ghc459.95 and the amount the teachers are supposed to pay for the TM1 laptops despite the many protests calling for a reduction in the price because of the specification and number of laptops purchased by the government.
