Nottingham Forest have reached full agreement with Manchester United to sign their goalkeeper Dean Henderson on a season loan.
Nottingham Forest, who got promoted back to the English top flight League after twenty three years are very determined to make an impressive return to the Premier League. Henderson, has had several loan spells with clubs in the Premier League and in the Championship. He is yet to be given full opportunity to man the poles for Manchester United due to the performance of first choice goalkeeper David De Gea.
Last season, Henderson kept only one match for Manchester United, out of 36 matches played in the league. He wants to be available to compete for a place in the three lions squad who will be going to the World Cup in Qatar, and he needs to be keeping before he could be considered for any call up by the England manager Gareth Southgate.
Nottingham were very determined to acquire Henderson on loan with an option to buy for €20m, but Manchester United refused that proposal. United believe Dean Henderson will take over the number spot from David De Gea in the near future and, trading him permanently might come back to hunt them.
United only extended his contract in 2021, by offering him five years extension. Henderson started his football in Manchester United academy and he is a born and bred macunian. He would really love to return to become the first choice goalkeeper for the club next season.
Newcastle were one club who were also interested in signing the 25 year old goalkeeper from United, but could not find an agreement with United. Newcastle wanted to acquire him permanently but United would not trade him permanently.
Newcastle have signed Nick Pope from Burnley to become their number one goalkeeper next season. Burnley have been relegated to the championship and Pope, who also want to keep his place in the England squad going to the World Cup, wants to remain competitive in the Premier League.
Dean Henderson will be looking forward to have a successful season with Nottingham Forest unlike his previous loan stint with Sheffield United. Henderson was loaned to Sheffield United in the 2019-20 season in the Premier League, but unfortunately, Sheffield got relegated to the championship and are yet to return to the Premier League.
He was very instrumental in Sheffield’s qualification back to the Premier League, and kept most of their matches but they could not survive the competition in the league and were relegated back to the championship.
