Dennis “Miracles” Aboagye, a senior communicator for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been released from the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after meeting his bail conditions.
EOCO confirmed the release but said its investigation remains ongoing. The agency is investigating allegations linked to Aboagye’s tenure as Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralization (IMCCoD).
EOCO Investigation Continues
According to EOCO, investigators are examining alleged financial and procurement irregularities involving IMCCoD.
The agency alleges that the case involves the suspected misappropriation of public funds. EOCO has not announced any criminal conviction or final findings. The investigation remains active.
Aboagye’s release followed the fulfilment of his bail conditions.
Under Ghanaian law, bail allows a suspect to remain out of custody while investigations or court proceedings continue.
His release does not determine the outcome of the investigation. EOCO says it will continue gathering evidence. At the time of publication, no court has found Aboagye guilty of any offence connected to the investigation.
The allegations remain under investigation. Like every suspect, he is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless a court rules otherwise.
The case has attracted political attention. Some members of the NPP questioned Aboagye’s arrest and the bail conditions imposed by investigators. His legal team also raised concerns about the conditions attached to his release.
EOCO has maintained that they acted within its legal mandate. The investigation continues under Ghana’s criminal justice process. EOCO is expected to complete its inquiries before deciding whether to recommend further legal action.
Any future proceedings will take place before the courts, where both the prosecution and the defence will have the opportunity to present their cases.
