The Ghana Education Service (GES) has denied releasing a prospectus for students who completed the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), warning parents and prospective Senior High School students against relying on a document circulating on social media.
The clarification, issued on August 18, 2026, follows the circulation of a document bearing the GES name and logo and presented as the 2025/26 Academic Year National Harmonized Prospectus for Boarders. GES says the document is not an approved prospectus.
The document circulating online contains an extensive list of items purportedly required from students entering second-cycle institutions.
Among the items shown are trunks or suitcases, chop boxes, toiletries, clothing, footwear, bedding, school bags, mathematical sets, scientific calculators and other personal effects.
It also contains lists of items described as contributions for schools, including cleaning materials such as liquid soap, washing powder, bleach, brooms, dustpans and mops.
However, GES has cautioned that the list should not be treated as the official requirements for students preparing to enter Senior High School or technical institutions in the 2026 admission cycle.
“GES Management has not released prospectus for students. Kindly ignore any list of items circulating in the media,” the Service said, as reported by Citi Newsroom.
The document is particularly likely to appear credible because it carries the GES logo and the name of the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Daniel Fenyi.
It is also headed “2025/26 Academic Year National Harmonized Prospectus for Boarders”, which can make it appear to be an official document for students preparing for admission.
The image circulating online therefore should not be assumed to represent the requirements for the 2026 intake simply because it carries official-looking branding.
According to the GES, the official and finalised prospectus will be communicated at the appropriate time.
GES specifically advised parents and prospective students not to use the circulating list as the basis for purchasing items needed for admission.
Parents should therefore wait for the final prospectus and confirm information through GES’s official communication channels before making purchases.
