The Ghana Education Service (GES) has opened the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) portal for Junior High Schools to capture and upload the school choices of candidates who sat the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The portal is available from Monday, August 24, to Thursday, August 27, 2026, as part of preparations for the 2026 Senior High School (SHS), Senior High Technical School and participating TVET placement exercise.
GES has directed heads of JHSs to ensure that the school selections of eligible candidates are accurately entered, checked and submitted within the four-day window.
Schools that had not completed the earlier CSSPS pre-testing exercise were also instructed to finish that process before proceeding with the WAEC portal upload.
One feature highlighted by GES is that schools can use the same school identification number and password on multiple computers at the same time. This is intended to help schools with larger numbers of candidates process their submissions more efficiently.
Education authorities at the regional, municipal and district levels have been tasked with monitoring the exercise and ensuring that schools comply with the instructions.
The latest step follows the earlier school-selection process for the 2026 placement exercise. Under the published 2026 placement guidelines, BECE candidates were required to select their preferred schools and programmes for placement through the CSSPS process.
The CSSPS Secretariat is expected to use the completed process to determine placements for qualified candidates.
A report by the Ghanaian Times says the 2026 SHS placement results are scheduled for release on August 31, 2026, although that timeline should be confirmed by the relevant authorities before publication as final.
