Ghana’s online passport application website, passport.mfa.gov.gh, is temporarily unavailable after experiencing technical problems, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, the Ministry said customers trying to access the platform may currently be unable to use the online passport application service.
The Ministry’s technical team is working with the National Signals Bureau (NSB) to resolve the problem and restore access as quickly as possible.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry did not disclose the specific nature of the technical fault or give a definite timeline for when the Ghana passport website would be fully restored.
It, however, apologised to affected customers for the inconvenience caused by the disruption and said the public would be updated once the issue has been resolved.
The outage affects members of the public who rely on the online platform to access passport-related services. Applicants who are unable to reach the website may therefore have to wait until the system is restored before proceeding with online applications.
The disruption comes as Ghana increasingly relies on digital platforms to provide government services. The passport application portal is an important part of the process, making its availability significant for people who need to start or continue passport applications.
For now, the Ministry has not announced an alternative online platform or a revised process for applicants affected by the outage. Customers are expected to await further communication from the Ministry on the restoration of the service.
The key issue remains the restoration of passport.mfa.gov.gh. Until the Ministry confirms that the technical problem has been resolved, applicants may continue to experience difficulties accessing the portal.
