The Ghanaian musician, Keche Joshua has urged the government and National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to act decisively and quickly to minimize the impact of the heightened flood in some parts of the country, after the heavy rainfall that hit Accra on June 29, 2026.

What I’ve seen in the videos on the web is terrifying to me, and I’ve seen pictures of areas that don’t flood and now are flooded, many roads are blocked and people losing their lives and property in this flooding, I think it’s serious in the country.
Joshua Keche advised the authorities to take the opportunity of the floods to pursue sustainable solutions in the long term, rather than quick fixes.

He emphasized that the government should locate all watercourse constructions and destroy them, and work on constructing a proper drainage system to improve the drainage of floodwaters, especially NADMO.
He further appealed to the government, particularly the NADMO to go about and identify all buildings that are constructed on waterways so that they can be removed, and also construct drains to correctly direct the water, which will help to solve this issue before next year.
His comment comes after the heavy rains that brought a lot of Accra to a standstill as many roads became flooded, causing major traffic congestion and affecting a lot of properties.
The inundations have also stirred up the demand for the government to enforce the planning rules and improve the country’s drainage system.
