Shatta Wale has asserted that the Ministry of Youth and Sports still owes to him for promotional efforts he did in favor of the Black Stars
The ‘Melissa’hitmaker articulated this assertion during an interview with GHOne TV, where he evaluated the performance of ministers and government appointees within the current Mahama administration.
Shatta Wale expressed his support for President John Dramani Mahama’s political ideology while also voicing concerns regarding certain appointees. He specifically mentioned an outstanding payment issue with the Sports Ministry.
“I appreciate President John Dramani Mahama’s ideology, but I have reservations about his appointees.” I am currently awaiting the payment of GH¢5 million from the Sports Ministry for my promotional activities during the World Cup.
As stated by the artiste, he executed his responsibilities within the agreement by utilizing his platform and influence to advocate for the Black Stars and mobilize public support for Ghana throughout the World Cup campaign.
In March 2026, he committed $100,000 to support Ghana’s campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup during a fundraising event.
When inquired about the status of the donation during the interview, he indicated that his Hotwav team had managed the issue and that he would follow up with them concerning the payment.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports has yet to issue a public response regarding Shatta Wale’s statement.
The reported GH¢5 million debt lacks independent verification, and the specifics of the contractual or other arrangements cited by the artiste as the foundation for the payment remain ambiguous.
