Retired Supreme Court Justice William Atuguba has questioned why Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, has not been appointed to a ministerial position in President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.
Justice Atuguba made the remarks during the D. F. Annan Memorial Lecture held at Parliament. He described his comments as a personal opinion based on his assessment of the lawmaker’s public service.
According to Justice Atuguba, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings has demonstrated leadership and commitment in public office. He said he believes she has the qualities required to serve as a minister.
The retired judge added that he had formed his opinion by observing her work in public life. He also noted that he had never met or spoken with her personally.
Justice Atuguba stressed that his comments should not be interpreted as an official recommendation.
Instead, he said they reflected his individual assessment of the MP’s performance and potential. His remarks have generated public discussion about ministerial appointments and leadership within government.
Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings has represented the Klottey Korle Constituency in Parliament since 2017. She is also known for her work on health, governance and national development issues. She currently serves as a Member of Parliament and has not been appointed to the Cabinet.
Under Ghana’s Constitution, the President appoints ministers, subject to parliamentary approval where required.
The Presidency has not commented on Justice Atuguba’s remarks or indicated whether additional ministerial appointments are under consideration.
No official announcement has been made regarding a possible appointment for Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings.
The comments have added to ongoing public discussions about leadership, governance and Cabinet appointments.
