His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has donated items worth GHS1 million to be given to the needy in these hard times and has been inspected by the Ashanti Region Covid-19 Response team.
Kwame Aboagye Mensah Personal Assistant to Chief of Staff at Manhyia wwho made the dial nation to the Response team to be shared among the needy said, it is the vision of the King to help reduce the burden the lockdown might brought to families who cannot cope with staying indoors for 2 weeks.
“There are some persons who will not be able to afford square meals during these trying times so Otumfuo decided that we reach out to such people and help them out in order to keep them alive hoping the virus ends soon”, he ddisclosed.
“His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, will be distributing relief items to deprived communities in the Greater Kumasi jurisdiction under lockdown as part of the measures to support the needy in complying with the President’s directive to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
The relief items to be distributed include:
rice, oil, canned tomatoes, mackerel, sardines, salt, sachet and bottled water, hand sanitizers, medicated soaps, vegetables and fruits.
He further noted that His Majesty will again present Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to the Frontline Health Workers in the various health facilities in the Greater Kumasi.
