A London Police Officer has owned up to raping and sexually abusing a number of women over a 17-year. Prosecutors have described the turn of events as one of the most horrifying one which involves a police officer who’s inn active service.

The 48-year-old David Carrick confessed to 49 felonies, including 24 counts of rape as well as charges of assault, attempted rape, and false imprisonment. Prior to joining the London Metropolitan Police in 2001, the policeman had experience working with the command for parliamentary and diplomatic protection.

After learning that Carrick was the subject of nine rape and other crime-related allegations between 2000 and 2021, the police department issued an apology to the victims. Only after his arrest on a rape charge in 2021 was he placed on administrative leave from the force. The case, according to Assistant Commissioner Barbara Gray, was “devastating,” and she expressed regret that Carrick hadn’t been fired sooner.

According to a statement released by the Police department, Carrick has severely destroyed the trust and confidence the police are working so hard to build.

According to the police, Carrick met some of the ladies on dating websites or at social gatherings and used his authority as a police officer to win their trust. Because Carrick informed them they would not be believed, Gray claimed that the victims were not bold enough to come out early.

Carrick is expected to be sentenced by a judge in February.

The allegations, according to London Mayor Sadiq Khan, have him “completely horrified and appalled.”

Khan added that significant concerns must be addressed regarding how the individual was allowed to misuse his position as an officer in such a horrible manner. “Londoners will be understandably astonished that this man was able to work for the Met for so long.

Authorities reported that since a serving officer named Wayne Couzens was convicted of kidnapping, raping, and killing a stranger named Sarah Everard when she was out on her way home at night in London in 2021, public confidence in law enforcement has declined.
