The Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has revealed the total votes its Presidential candidate had in the just ended 2020 elections.
The former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC, Joseph Ade Coker, in an interview said the party has compiled the total votes Mahama got in the polls. He rubbished claims by some people that such data is not available.
Speaking on Accra- based Joy News, he indicated that those figures had been made available to the party’ s Council of Elders at a recent retreat in Ho.
His comment is in relation to an earlier statement by one of NDC’s Council of Elders, Dr. Benjamin Kumbuor, who in an interview said the foot soldiers are yet to be convinced the party won the 2020 presidential election especially when its own collated results still remain a mystery.
Speaking to Evans Mensah on PM Express, Monday, Dr Kunbuor fears the NDC may run into credibility challenges if the leadership fails to come out with its collated results to convince the electorates.
“For the ordinary party members that you told that we have won the elections through the figures and collation that the party has done, why is it that those figures did not find their way into the court? That is a fundamental question…
“There is only one way to answer this question. Come out and put it in the public domain; this is what we collated. This was what was the outcome. This is the margin by which we won. That has not been fought coming” he said.
But responding to Kumbuor’s comment, the former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC noted the party has the complete figures and he( Kumbour) could have asked for it only if he needed it.
“We have the results compiled. I am amazed that Dr. Kumbuor, being a member of the Council of Elders, has failed or has not asked the Executives to be accountable to the Council of Elders. If the Council of Elders is so interested in the numbers, they would have asked. Just don’ t go and say that the party doesn’ t have the figures.”
He continued: ” The grassroots of the party have not come to tell National Executives that we must reach out to the public and release our figures. We have a forum where he you wanted to know the numbers that the party had obtained. There are structures in the party where everyone must follow over the weekend, there was a laid out and everything we need to know within the party was made available to us. ” – He said.
The NDC after 2020 elections claimed they were cheated looking at the figures the party had against the figures the Electoral Commission of Ghana announced publicly.
Subsequently, the NDC petitioned the Supreme Court over the election results but failed to present a single document to buttress their point of them wining the election.
