Philanthropist and New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Council of Patrons member, Beatrice Owarewaa Siaw, who revealed some weeks ago that she had invested Ghs40 billion in projects within Asante Mampong constituency, where she aspired to serve in parliament, has passed away.
Nana Yaa, as she is affectionately known, passed away at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) following her admission to the facility due to a brief illness. She passed away on Saturday evening, as reported by a close source.
From what we can tell, Siaw drove herself to KATH and was interrogated over her last visit to the health facility, where she had complained of feeling physically weak. Not long after that, her death was announced.
Siaw, a prominent figure within the NPP, had often articulated her desire to serve her constituents in parliament and emphasized the need for transformation to enhance the lives of the Asante Mampong populace.
Her candidacy attracted significant attention earlier this year following the headlines generated by the magnitude of her reported development spending in the region.
During a campaign engagement, she claimed to have initiated development projects exceeding GH¢40 billion in the constituency, emphasizing that she had completed “over 40 billion Ghana cedis’ worth of projects” and was undertaking initiatives that had not previously been implemented in the area.
Following news of her passing, loved ones and friends, along with many supporters, have voiced their disbelief at this heartbreaking news and have extended their heartfelt condolences to the grieving family.
