The Bono Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, believes the Police Service is one of the most useless force in the Region.
His assertion comes in the wake of recent killing by one Silas Wolochami, a young man believed to be a teacher trainee who was stabbed to death.
According to reports,there was a misunderstanding at one of the registration centers at Ahenkro in the Bono region, the District capital, which led to a fight between the supporters of Ahmed Ibrahim and Joe Danquah, NPP aspiring Member of Parliament. It is alleged that Joe Danquah with his bodyguards some party faithfuls and attacked the younger brother of Ahmed at his office and sustained him with injuries. This didn’t go well with the NDC supporters as they revenge and smashed Joe Danquah’s car beyond recognition.
Report says, the velocity of the fight increased and the people of Kaburono where Joe Danquah hails, a community in the Banda District, mounted a barrier for no Ahenkro resident to cross to the District Capital Ahenkro where Ahemed hails from. The fight became Kaburono vrs Ahenkro.
Many cars were stopped at the barrier, those identified to have hailed from Ahenkro, were brutally beaten.
Silas Wolochami 28 a teacher trainee from from Akim Oda training colleague, was identified by the mob to have hailed from Ahenkro. He was beaten and stabbed by an alleged brother of Joe Danquah, Kwabena Afrane, who claimed the desaesed was an NDC member.
While in the pool of blood, some sympathizers rushed him to the Banda Health Care Center for treatment but was referred to Wenchi Methodist Hospital. He then kicked the backet few minutes later.
The police has so far made no arrest. According to the Bono Regional NPP chairman Abronye, the District Police Commander was fully aware of the incident right from the beginning of the fight. He is on record to have said that among the 16 Regions, Bono has the useless police force and aren’t on top of their work.
