Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Overlord of Asanteman has destooled the Kenyase ll Manhene, Nana Kwabena Nsia Ababio following allegations of violating the customs and traditions of the Kingdom.
The Kenyase Manhene is regarded as the longest-serving Paramount Chief of the Asanteman, with a reign that has traversed multiple generations and eras of social and cultural evolution.
His destoolment was declared on Monday July 27 during Asanteman Traditional Council meeting.
In a widely circulated video, Otumfuo delivered his final judgment, accusing Nana Kwabena Nsia Ababio of neglecting his responsibilities as a Paramount Chief. He claimed that Ababio had entrusted the affairs of his empire to his wife while he remained in Accra. He also disclosed that the Kenyase II Manhene only visits his township solely to collect money.
Many of his kingmakers were likewise deposed once it was established that they had violated their oath of office.
However, the Asantehene chose to spare the Kontihene and reinstated the destooled Akyeame along with other linguists of the traditional council.
