The Catholic Diocese of Konongo-Mampong has revealed that the indefinitely suspended priest has been spotted at the Police Training Center in Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
This was confirmed in a statement released by the Diocese on August 27, 2026, in response to queries about the location and wellbeing of Rev. Fr. Samuel Adapore.
On August 24, 2026, Father Adapore was barred from openly administering sacraments, officiating or concelebrating Massand performing other liturgical activities. He was also forbidden to exercise religious functions.
The Diocese maintained that he made a voluntary and independent decision to enlist as a private individual and engage in training at the facility.
The Diocese did not specify the date of Father Adapore’s arrival at the facility nor offer additional information regarding his choice to enter the Police Service.
The revelation stems from backlash on social media about the Diocese’s management of the priest’s absence and subsequent suspension.
Critics have raised doubts about the adequacy of efforts to ascertain Fr. Adapore’s location and well-being prior to the imposition of disciplinary measures.
The Diocese, nonetheless, dismissed the notion that caring for Fr. Adapore’s well-being was at odds with implementing disciplinary measures.
“The Church may inquire about a priest’s safety while also assessing if he has vacated his post without permission, and can locate him while overseeing his ministry,” part of the statement read.
According to the Diocese, the Bishop has an obligation to ensure that pastoral services for the congregation continue in the event that a priest leaves his parish without explanation.
It further rejected the notion that the sanction placed on Fr. Adapore prevents him from being part of the church.
The Diocese clarified that a suspension from sacred duties limits the performance of specific priestly roles, yet it does not imply that the priest is no longer a priest or that the Church has disavowed him.
The Church essentially asserts: ‘You remain our brother and priest, yet you are currently unable to perform specific priestly duties due to the circumstances related to your behavior,’ the Diocese clarified.
