
Celebrated Ghanaian musician, Black Sheriff, has missed out on the Best International Act at the 2025 BET Award losing out to Nigerian singer Ayra Starr.
The event, which brought together musical voices and talents from South America, Europe, and Africa, took place on Monday, June 9.
The Eye Open hit maker who happens to be the only nominee selected for this year’s had earned his second BET nominations.
Black Sheriff had tough competition from ten nominees, including well-known African artists like Nigeria’s Rema and South Africa’s Tyla. The other artists on the list are Any Gabrielly (Brazil), Basky (UK), Ezra Collective (UK), Joé Dwèt Filé (France), MC Luanna (Brazil), SDM (France), and Uncle Waffles (Swaziland).
Many of his followers praised him for his contribution to the Ghanaian music, while others voiced their disappointment.
The BET Awards, founded in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television network, remain an important platform for showcasing Black achievement in both culture and entertainment.
