The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has called the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, for interrogation following his appearance in a video where he was seen handing over an undisclosed amount of money in dollars to native doctor turned evangelist, Patricia Oduro Koranteng.
According to reliable sources at the Jubilee House which confirmed to Citi News, Sammy Gyamfi has been directed to give detailed explanation on the said incident captured on camera and going viral.
Sammy Gyamfi has been heavily criticised by Ghanaians for the past few days after he was seen in a video giving stash of dollars to the founder and leader of Heavenway Champion International Ministries, Patricia Oduro Koranteng, popularly known as Nana Agraada.
The intended purpose of the cash handover is unknown but as to why an ardent critic of President Mahama and the NDC party has gained such favor from a government appointee remains a mystery and this has sparked intense speculation and backlash from the public.
Critics contend that such incidents may render the NDC government unpopular and diverge from the Code of Conduct for Public Officials established by President Mahama, which advocates for integrity, accountability and transparency. This is a move by government to fight corruption in our public institutions.
In response to the widely shared video that has angered many, Sammy Gyamfi on May 11, 2025 apologised to Ghanaians and explained that the gesture towards Agraada is part of his daily and life-long custom of lending a helping hand to people in need.
Despite his public apology, a reliable source has confirmed that the Chief of Staff is handling the situation with the seriousness it requires because it could have a detrimental impact on the Mahama-led government.
