Strengthening Ties: South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol’s Historic Visit to the Philippines

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is scheduled to visit the Philippines from October 6 to 7 for a state meeting with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. This marks the first official standalone visit by a South Korean president to the Philippines since 2011, following an invitation from Marcos Jr.

During the visit, which includes a formal welcoming ceremony at Malacañang Palace on October 7, Yoon and First Lady Kim Keon Hee will be greeted by Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos. The discussions between the two leaders will cover a range of topics, including political and security cooperation, maritime issues, economic development, and labor relations.

Notably, this visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and the Philippines. South Korean Ambassador Lee Sang-hwa emphasized the significance of this milestone, highlighting its potential to strengthen the partnership between the two nations.
