Gifty Oware-Mensah, has been charged on multiple counts of stealing, money laundering, causing financial loss to the State and abuse of public office.

Former Deputy Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Gifty Oware-Mensah, is expected to appear before Court today.

On October 22, the former NSA Boss was granted bail set at 10 million Ghana cedis. Sources close to smartandstuck.com claimed that she failed to fulfill the bail conditions, resulting in her spending several weeks in custody until those conditions were eventually met.

She has been indicted on several charges, including theft, money laundering, infliction of financial harm to the State, and misuse of public office.

The Attorney General’s Department said that she misappropriated GHs38,458,248.87 from February 2022 to March 2024 during her tenure overseeing Finance, audit, and procurement of NSA products.

Mrs. Oware Mensah is alleged to have created approximately 9,934 fictitious national service personnel and to have benefited financially from the allowances associated with these nonexistent individuals.

Her first appearance in court was on 17th October, 2025 but she was absent, with her attorney, Gary Nimako, stating that his client was hospitalized and unable to attend.

Justice Kocuvi-Tay expressed her dissatisfaction with the situation and warned that any further excuses from Oware-Mensah would result in sanctions.
