Legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has revealed that the violence that was occasioned at the Ablekuma North rerun on Friday July 11 was a retaliatory action by some members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) who suffered the same fate during the Ayawaso West Wuogon By-election where the then President Akufo-Addo watched on unconcerned.

Speaking during a panel discussion on Accra-based TV3, Mr. Kpebu highlighted that justice will only prevail in the Ablekuma North violence if the Ayawaso West incident is revisited and individuals who took part in any form of violence prosecuted because crime has no expiry date.

“If we want justice, then the Ayawso case should be reviewed first”, he said on Key Points.

According to him, if that does not happen, then the violence that crippled the rerun at Ablekuma North will also not be investigated and it will not go to court as desired by NPP members who got attacked.

“We can’t overlook the Ayawso incident and all of a sudden be interested in the Ablekuma North violence because no one is more human than the other.”

He recalled how the then President Akufo-Addo after setting up a committee to look into the Ayawaso West case did nothing about the committee’s findings and recommendations allowing culprits to go scot free indicating the same procedure will occur if justice is not served to victims of the Ayawaso West Wuogon By-election violence.
