A High Court in Nigeria has found gospel musician Oluwatimileyin Ajayi, who is better known as Timileyin Daniels, guilty for the gruesome murder of his girlfriend, Salome Eleojo Adaidu, and has been handed a death penalty by hanging.
Justice Simon Aboki.l handed down the decisive verdict. He said that the evidence presented to the court established beyond reasonable doubt that gospel musician Ajayi did, in fact, perpetrate the crime by ending Salome’s life in an unjust manner that shocked everyone.
Ajayi according to investigators committed the crime. After murdering Salome, he chopped off her head and placed in a polythene bag. According reliable information gathered so far, the suspect acted out of jealousy, accusing the deceased of cheating.
Following his confession of the crime when he was arrested with the severed head of Salome, acknowledged his culpability but then entered a plea of not guilty during the trial proceedings. But his fate was determined by the several witness accounts and his prior admission of the crime.
Justice Aboki made the following remarks: “What the accused did was intentional and heinous. According to the charges, the court has found him guilty and has sentenced him to death by hanging.
