The Ghana Music Industry has been thrown into a state of mourning after news of the death of Highlife legend, Nana Kwaku Duah, known in the showbiz circle as Dada KD.

The singer died after an unexpected illness that made it difficult for him to communicate, according to the information that has been obtained thus far.

The music star died at the Gbawe Government Hospital in the Greater Accra region of Ghana on Friday May 16, 2025.

Dada KD, according to reliable sources, appeared healthy and lively.

However, we wake up to the unfortunate news of his demise on Friday. When his manager showed up at his house, he found the singer in distress and unable to speak. He was quickly rushed to the hospital when he finally gave up the ghost.

As a contemporary highlife artist, Dada KD came into the limelight during the 90s through the help of Michael Osei Agyemang who assisted him to record his first album Honey Love. The album was recorded at GEE MAN’s studio. He has nine albums to his music catalog. These include, Odo Mu Anigye, Somgye, Ebeboawo, Obiara Se Eye, Mewura and others.

He was awarded the Best Male Vocal Artist at Ghana Music Awards in Britain in 2004.

His fans and fellow musicians have taken to social media platforms to celebrate the music star acknowledging the impact he brought into the Ghana music scene. Tributes from his loved ones described him as one of the pillars of modern day Highlife and one of the country’s most celebrated musical voices.
