A video has emerged showing the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, receiving a bundle of 200 cedis notes from a subordinate during a public event.
It could be seen in the video that the person took the money from a purse he was holding and handed the 200 cedis notes to Akufo-Addo.
Akufo-Addo, upon collecting the cash from his subordinate, concealed it in his pocket. A lot of Ghanains have criticized the act from the president insisting that protocols should have been followed. According to netizens, monies should not be given to the President during public events in such manner.
The place of event where this embarrassing scene was captured was at the commissioning of the Flowerpot Interchange; an event that took place on Tuesday November 19 in the Greater Accra Region.
The commissioning of the interchange is a significant step towards alleviating the perennial traffic congestion in the nation’s capital and a major milestone in Ghana’s efforts to modernize its road network and improve urban mobility.
