The former Minister for Communications and Digitization of Ghana, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has spoken frankly about her “supi supi” (lesbianism) experiences while she was a high school student.
She recounted how her boarding school days sometimes brought back memories of her exploit in the illicit act indicating that the majority of girls who passed through the boarding system would have experienced the ‘supism’ in one way or the other in girls’ schools and in certain mixed schools.
“Although I do not apologize for this, I have a preference for my male counterparts”, she stated.
She characterized this period as a normal phase of sexual exploration, stating, “You’re exploring your sexuality, so you engage in various frivolous activities during your development. Fortunately, social media did not exist during our time; it would have left an indelible record of some of our more crazy stuff.”
