President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has criticized the Presidential Aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for their meeting with former President Akufo-Addo, deeming their actions as unnecessary.

His argument stems from Akufo-Addo’s abysmal performance as president thereby plunging the country into serious financial crisis where a lot of pensioners had to sacrifice their retirement benefits to secure an IMF bailout at a time most of them needed such monies to cater for their pressing needs and also overseeing the destruction of Ghana’s forest reserves and water bodies.

He indicated that he does not see any reason why a serious presidential hopeful will be in contact with a failed president.

In a social media post, he underscored that the shortcomings of the past administration should compel serious candidates to refrain from any association with the former President.

“Why would any serious presidential hopeful thinking of breaking with a leadership that failed abysmally, left a junk-rated econony, devoured pensions, looted incalculable amounts , destroyed our environment, ostracised citizens such as SALL and got trashed at the polls still go and take inspiration from the very source of the bedlam? Ah”, he wrote.
