Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, Dr. Arthur Kennedy has sided with former president John Agyekum Kufuor that Akufo-Addo who became president of the Republic from 2016 to 2024 should publicly render an unqualified apology to Ghanaians for making the country a living hell.

Speaking on TV3’s Key Points on June 28th, the NPP stalwart noted that the country was run by a few unpatriotic people who lost touch with Ghanaians and made wrong decisions that negatively impacted the economy.

His comment comes at a time the party is gearing up for its presidential primaries which is scheduled for January 31st, 2026.

Dr. Kennedy Arthur stated that the party should formulate good policies to win back the hearts of Ghanaians and NPP sympathizers who supported Mahama’s comeback.

“We should bring back home disappointed NPP members who voted for Mahama with good policies”, he indicated.

He disclosed that the key to regaining the support of dissatisfied NPP members lies in advocating for accountability and renewal.

He further explained that the party needed a complete overhaul, starting at the grassroots level, and that the NPP should have had district and regional polls before planning the presidential primaries.

He maintained that the individuals who prevail in the party’s regional and district elections are crucial to altering the party’s fortunes and should be prioritized over the presidential primary.

He contended that this strategy would eliminate any discontent among members, since it ensures that not only favored individuals are taken into account by the party’s top hierarchy during internal elections, given their autonomy to do so.
