Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has awarded diplomatic passports to five esteemed Ghanaians in acknowledgment of their significant international influence and their efforts in enhancing the nation’s reputation on the global stage.

The 2025 Diaspora Summit, which was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Office of the President – Diaspora Affairs, took place in Accra on Wednesday, September 17, during which the announcement was made.

The honorees — travel vlogger Wode Maya, reggae icon Rocky Dawuni, broadcaster Anita Erskine, visual artist Ibrahim Mahama, and entrepreneur Dentaa Amoateng MBE — were recognized on Wednesday, September 17, during the media launch of the Diaspora Summit 2025, co-organized by the Office of the President – Diaspora Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mr. Ablakwa clarified that the honor was bestowed under the authority granted to the Foreign Minister by NLCD 155. He observed that the recipients had consistently elevated Ghana’s standing on the global stage and would now receive diplomatic passports to further their endeavors.

Each of the five honourees has established a distinct presence in their individual domains. Wode Maya has emerged as a prominent YouTuber highlighting African destinations and entrepreneurship, while Rocky Dawuni’s music and activism have established him as a cultural ambassador for peace and environmental issues.

Anita Erskine is recognized as a prominent broadcaster and a strong advocate for women’s empowerment, while Ibrahim Mahama has achieved international acclaim for his expansive visual art installations. Dentaa Amoateng, the founder of the GUBA Awards and GUBA Enterprise, has played a key role in strengthening the ties between Ghana and its diaspora.
