In a recent address to the United Nations Security Council, Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi issued a stern warning regarding the escalating situation in the Middle East. He asserted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu must be restrained, as his actions are propelling the region toward potential war. Safadi emphasized that the risk of a broader conflict is intensifying daily, urging the international community to intervene before the situation deteriorates further.
“The Israeli government has inflicted severe harm on Palestinian communities, resulting in the deaths of children and the destruction of homes and schools,” Safadi stated. He condemned the dehumanization of Palestinians, arguing that such attitudes foster hatred and deny their existence.
On the same day, Israeli airstrikes in Beirut were reported, targeting Hezbollah’s headquarters in southern Lebanon. This military action has heightened concerns among regional leaders, including Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. He warned that the airstrikes could lead to uncontrollable escalation and reiterated Saudi Arabia’s stance that lasting peace is contingent on a two-state solution.
In the context of these developments, Netanyahu also addressed the UN General Assembly, expressing his ambitions to normalize relations with Saudi Arabia while highlighting Israel’s ongoing military operations across multiple fronts. The call for peace remains urgent as regional leaders stress the importance of dialogue and resolution to avert further conflict.
