President John Dramamni Mahama has replaced Anne Sansa Daly on the Board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) with Prof. Dr. Ernest Yorke after concerns were raised regarding her medical license.

According to a letter from the Presidency dated May 23 and signed by Dr Callistus Mahama, secretary to the president, the revocation of Daly’s appointment takes immediate effect.

The letter directed the Health Minister to take the necessary steps to facilitate the smooth swearing in of Prof. Yorke. There was no justification for Sansa Daly’s removal but reliable information available to this news portal indicate stakeholders in the health sector raised concerns about Daly’s  qualifications to serve on a public health board. Further probe revealed that she did not havs a valid license to practice in Ghana as a medical doctor.

Prof. Dr. Ernest Yorke who is currently the vice president for the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has received massive endorsements from industry experts. According to those rooting for his appointment, they believe he is the most suitable candidate for the position

The NHIA Board plays a critical role in the day-to-day management and policy guidance of Ghana’s health insurance program, which serves millions of Ghanaians nationwide.
