One person has been reported dead while two others severely injured. This follows a confrontations between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and that of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at a polling station in Nyankpala, Northern Region.
According to the Ghana Police Service, four suspects linked to the shooting have been arrested while the two who were injured are receiving medical attention.
The shooting in incident disrupted the electoral process creating panic among voters and EC Ofiicials.
Majid Issah, Fodi Issiage Kamara, Yakubu Simalia and Alhaji Bashiru Mohamed are suspects in police custody assisting in investigations.
The deceased is an executive of the Nationa Democratic Congress, according to reports. He has since been transported to the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
The actual cause of the shooting has not been established yet but what we are aware of is that tempers flared up between supporters of both parties leading to the exchange of gunfire.
Police in a bid to tighten security at the area has deployed officers to ensure order and safety of voters and officials.
