Andrew Kofi Egyapa Mercer, has lost his seat to Blay Nyameke Armahof the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
The incumbent member of parliament had 11,084 votes, representing 42.94% of the total valid votes, while Blay Nyameke Armah secured 14,558 votes, corresponding to 56.40%.
The total number of votes cast was 25,813. 171 votes were rejected ballots.
The outcome of the results has shifted in favor of the NDC. Egyapa Mercer has previously won the seat in 2016 and 2020.
Egyapa Mercer dominated in the 2016 elections after securing 16,839 votes, or 59.47% of the total valid votes. However, it seems the NDC has gained grounds in this year’s elections and this reflects a broader trend of keenly contested parliamentary races.
