2024 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party has sent a word of caution to party faithfuls to stop promoting tribal politics within the party highlighting its potential to harm the party and undermine its political future

2024 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has sent a word of caution to party faithfuls to desist from engaging in tribal politics highlighting its potential to harm the party and undermine its political future.

Speaking at the ongoing National Delegates Conference which is being held at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra on July 19, the former vice president indicated that the party can only be united when they eschew tribal politics and focus their attention on making the party attractive to Ghanaians by coming together as one through collective efforts.

“It is evident, therefore, that the bonds of unity in diversity have been our essence and our foundation.”

“We must now come together and refrain from any language, behavior, or actions that create division among us.”

He linked the historical origins of the NPP to the establishment of the United Party (UP), which was the result of a coalition of political factions from throughout the nation.

As the party is recuperating from its 2024 electoral defeat, Dr. Bawumia maintains that Ghanaians may only have faith in the party if they unite as a family.

“We can win back the trust of Ghanaians if we work together and stay consistent. He warned, “If we are broken and fighting with each other, none of us can cross over and lead us to fulfill this party’s purpose.”
