A federal court in the United States of America has reduced the initial $18 million damage awarded to investigate Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, to $500 after an appeal from Ken Agyapong and his lawyers.
Former member of parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong was instructed to pay $18 million to Anas by the Jury at the Essex County Superior Court. Kennedy Agyapong later filed for a motion for remittitur, pleading for reduction in the amount awarded against him.
Anas initiated a slander lawsuit against Kennedy Agyapong after the latter made some disparaging comments about him (Anas) in an interview in 2021.
The Tiger Eye PI head confirmed the ruling by the federal judge but added that despite the reduction in the money, the case was about truth and justice and no politician should take the media for granted.
