
Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service for what they describe as offensive conduct which constitutes breach of peace.
According to the statement released some few minutes ago, the law enforcement agency has indicated that Abronye is currently being detained.
Part of the statement also highlighted that Mr. Baffoe will be arraigned before court with no specific date given.
“He is currently in custody and will be put before Court”, part of the statement read.
The Police did not provide comprehensive facts of the actions that resulted in the arrest, which occurs amidst increased public scrutiny of the vocal Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Abronye recently lodged a request to seek political asylum in 8 countries which include the USA, Canada, France, Germany, Côte d’Ivoire, United Kingdom, Italy and Spain after he claimed there had been numerous threats on his life.
According to him, the government has made him his top priority and has consistently tried to use state security to intimidate and silence him and others who criticized the wrong deeds of the NDC government.
As part of investigations related to Abronye, authorities carried out a search of the house of Moses Abor, who is the former Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Sunday, according to reports. However, they were unable to find him there.
