Member of Parliament-Elect, Kwame Asare Obeng,  popularly known as Kwame A Plus has revealed that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was behind the shooting incident that happened at Techiman South Constituency that resulted in the death of two people.

Member of Parliament-Elect, Kwame Asare Obeng, has revealed that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was behind the shooting incident that happened at Techiman South Constituency that resulted in the death of two people.

According to the outspoken musician, the president gave the order for the shooting just to hold on to power.

“He’s the one who ordered the military to shoot people in Techiman during the 2020 election just to hold onto power,” he noted in a tweet on X.

He observed that he visited Akufo-Addo somewhere in 2012 to get the president’s endorsement for violence-free election, a call made earlier by him and his colleagues.

However, the president rejected the call for a peaceful elections and claimed the president at the time ( H.E. Prof Evans Atta-Mills) had control of the police and military. A Plus stated in his tweet that Akufo-Addo later directed him to the late Atta-Mills if A Plus wanted peace.

Background

Two people were confirmed dead at the Techiman Holy Family Hospital while an unspecified number of people are also sustained gunshot wounds following a shooting incident at the Techiman South Constituency in the Bono East Region in the 2020 presidentialand parliamentary elections.

The deceased were hit by stray bullets when the police and military officers deployed to ensure law and order fired several warning shots to control the crowd following the announcement of the parliamentary election results.

Misunderstanding ensues

A misunderstanding ensued over the results when it was declared that the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah had won against Mr Beyere of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Both candidates had earlier declared themselves winners.

Following the firing of shots, two people who got seriously injured were rushed in an ambulance to the Techiman Holy Family Hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival.
