The family of Ken Ofori-Atta is accusing Kissi Agyebeng, the Special Prosecutor, of abusing his power in relation to the ongoing investigation of the former Finance Minister and the initiation of an Interpol arrest warrant, branding Mr. Ofori-Atta as a fugitive from justice for allegedly exploiting his official position for personal gain.
In a press release on Monday, June 9th, the family called for the immediate removal of Ofori-Atta’s name from Interpol’s Red Notice, stating that they have submitted a formal request to the National Central Bureau and the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF) for its deletion.
They accused the OSP of intentionally altering evidence and bypassing judicial procedures to get an arrest warrant dated February 11, 2025, alleging that Mr. Ofori-Atta engaged in “using public office for personal profit.”
The refusal of the OSP to engage Ofori-Atta via a virtual conference and the office’s declaration of Ofori-Atta as a fugitive, despite a pending ruling at the Human Rights Court scheduled for June 18, is reprehensible.
“Mr. Ofori-Atta does not run from justice but always meets justice and successfully defends himself,” the statement read, citing his past appearances before CHRAJ, Parliament, and other legal forums.
