A young lady believed to be in her early 20s has met her untimely death after she was shot by his partner in Voti Deker, a small community in Yeji in the Pru District East of the Bono Region of Ghana.
Rumors suggest that the victim was shot owing to accusations of infidelity. The incident occurred not solely because the victim was cheating, but rather owing to a confluence of sad circumstances contributing to her tragic demise.
The incident according to the police took place on Tuesday June 10.
Maame Yaa, the girlfriend of the suspect, Hayford Boateng, known on social media as Gh Kobby, has been in a relationship for a while now.
Also, Maame Yaa or Yaa Baby as she is affectionately called has been living with his boyfriend for a week now prior to the incident according to family sources.
The two lovers went for the funeral of the late Asante Mamponghene. After the funeral, they headed to Yeji for reasons best known to the couple in a white Honda CRV which is unregistered together with friends of Hayford.
All this while, Gh Kobby had a license pump action gun which he carries everywhere he goes and his girlfriend was aware of that since she was sighted in a video holding the gun.
On that fateful day, an incident occurred in which her boyfriend was handling the firearm, and it accidentally discharged, injuring Maame Yaa. The bullet tore part of the left arm of the victim and headed straight to her heart. The incident according to the report occurred in the afternoon around 3: 00 pm.
Sensing danger, the suspects attempted to flee in their vehicle when the youths of the town got wind of the news and arrested them.
The injured Maame Yaa was found in the boot of the car and sent to St. Martin’s Hospital in Yeji for treatment but was pronounced dead shortly after she was admitted.
According to her aunt, there are concerns that this incident may have been planned, suggesting that the boyfriend intended to harm the innocent young woman.
Hayford Boateng, a 31-year-old man has been apprehended by the police together with his two companions, Kojo Emmanuel, 28, and Michael Boateng, 34. They are in police custody assisting in investigations.
