Appeals Court Judge, judge, Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei, who has been nominated to the bench of the Supreme Court has shot down ongoing rumours pertaining to Judges taking bribes to obstruct justice.

He said that the wrong ideas Ghanaians have about the Judiciary are based on weak cases and false information, not on solid proof that judges are receiving bribes.

Justice Adjei, in response to an inquiry regarding recent research findings characterizing the Judiciary as an institution plagued by corruption, he asserted that such allegations lack evidentiary support, rendering their acceptance subjective.

He said that some people who lose cases think that corruption had something to do with the outcome.

“People think they lost a case because they didn’t pay a bribe. He said, “Sometimes the truth is that the case is just weak.” “If someone pays a bribe, they should name the person involved instead of making a general accusation.”

He talked about a similar case when he was working with the Judicial Complaints Unit on a claim that proved to be untrue after investigations.

He urged Ghanaians to report judges’ wrongdoing using solid proof rather than spreading unverified claims.
