The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested a woman believed to be in her 20s for allegedly stabbing her former boyfriend during a confrontation at Race Course, a suburb in Ghana's capital.

The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested a woman believed to be in her 20s for allegedly stabbing her former boyfriend during a confrontation at Race Course, Sowutuom, a suburb in Accra.

The suspect, Augustina Adoma, according to a police report set her former boyfriend’s properties on fire on infidelity allegations.

Adoma visited Emmanuel Otabil unannounced on Thursday June 26th around 9:00 am and saw him with another woman.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the 30-year-old Otabil was subjected to public humiliation by Adoma after she poured a bucket of water on him and his alleged lover. Adoma also seized the mobile phone of the victim.

In a police statement, Ms. Juliana Obeng [Supt], Head of Public Affairs for the Greater Accra Region, detailed that Otabil confronted Adoma regarding the return of his phone, which led to a heated altercation during which the suspect stabbed Otabil in the left chest with a knife taken from an orange vendor.

The victim was promptly transported to Race Course Hospital in Sowutuom and was subsequently referred to Lapaz Community Hospital, and then to University of Ghana Medical Centre, where he underwent an emergency surgery.

The victim is currently admitted at the UGMC and in a stable condition.

The suspect attempted to make a complaint against Otabil at the Tesano Police Station in Accra, alleging assault on herself, thereby shifting the blame onto the victim. Nevertheless, she was apprehended, and the police have recovered the victim’s phone.

The case remains under investigation.
