In a letter sighted by smartandstuck.com, the Attorney-General has referred the two individuals to EOCO to be invited and investigated following Joy FM reporter Ersatus Asare Donkor’s allegations of their involvement in illicit mining activities that the government intends to eradicate in the country

Dr. Ayine tasked EOCO to expand their investigations beyond the two implicated individuals to encompass others deemed culpable of participating in this illicit activity, and take a clue from issues raised in Prof. Frimpong Boateng’s report on illegal mining.

Subsequently, Dr. Ayine subsequently urged the Office to collaborate closely with the Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission, given the institution’s regulatory supervision responsibilities to facilitate the inquiry process.

The move forms part of a broader effort by the Mahama-led administration to clamp down on illegal mining activities and restore our natural vegetation to its original state, ensuring that future generations inherit more abundant natural resources.
