A 22-year-old named Kwame has been remanded into police custody by a court in Koforidua in the Eastern Region for allegedly robbing and sexually assaulting a 25-year-old nurse in a doggy-style posture.
The nurse who is doing her National Service has rented an apartment in the family residence of the accused individual.
The suspect, who has ulterior motives against the nurse, lied to her that someone was looking for her in front of the Yiadom Hwedie Palace of the new Juabenmanhene.
As she went outside to meet the supposed person, Kwame stealthily entered her room without her knowledge.
The suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and demanded that she give up all of her money after she returned. She obliged out of fear and gave him more than Ghs1,000 in cash. Not satisfied, he requested a mobile money transfer, but there were no funds in her wallet.
Wanting to satisfy his lustful desire, the accused ordered the nurse to undress while threatening her with the knife and force her into a doggy-style position, after which he reportedly perpetrated sexual assault against her.
Sensing danger, Kwame went into hiding. However, the victim formally identified him as the perpetrator of the crime, despite his attempts to mimic a different voice, and made a report at the police station.
Kwame, together with his dad, later went to the police station to apologize, but the accused was immediately arrested.
Upon seeing the suspect with his father, the victim could not control her emotions and slapped Kwame multiple times at the police station.
Kwame has since been charged with rape, robbery, and threat of causing harm.
