Ghanaian comedian OB Amponsah triumphed in the Ultimate Comic Challenge, surpassing 90 competitors to secure the victory.
The event took place at the Idiot Box Comedy Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, U.S.A.
Speaking in an interview on the ‘GTV Breakfast Show’ OB Amponsah revealed circumstances that culminated into securing him the ultimate winner.
According to him, after exploring the comedy dynamics in Ghana, he felt it is time to take up new challenges.
He indicated that the competition was a genuine assessment of his proficiency, dedication and capabilities as a comedian revealing that he had low expectations of reaching finals due to language barrier in some of his comic statements and had to translate his jokes into English for his audience to comprehend.
But, despite the challenges he was faced with, he emerged victorious and claimed the top spot.
He thanked everyone who lent a helping hand and words of encouragement since he started his career and emphasized that the victory is for more than just fun; it also implies people are expecting more from him. He expressed the desire to step up his game since he knows he will regard him as a role model.
