The Accra Circuit Court has remanded Kwame Baffoe into police custody as he is expected to return on Friday September 12.
The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was arrested by the Ghana Police Service on Monday September 8 for what they describe as offensive conduct which constitutes breach of peace.
lawyer for Abronye, Daniel Martey, after the verdict engaged the media and expressed shock over the decision by the court to remand his client.
“The defendant was presented before the court, and it seems the prosecution only sought his remand. For any reason, you extended an invitation to us, we have accepted it, and the allegations against my client in court are merely misdemeanors. In legal terms, you are aware that offenses are categorized, with misdemeanors being the most fundamental. This should not serve as justification for the remand of an accused individual,” he noted.
