The Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has advocated for an increment in the age limit of recruits enlisted into the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

“I honestly believe it is time for our beloved Nation to re-examine the maximum age for enlistment into our military services”, he noted in a tweet on X.

He contended that the existing restriction unjustly excludes competent and physically healthy persons in their 30s.

“There are people in their 30s who are physically fit and sound enough to serve their Nation. We must not deny them this opportunity simply because of their age.”

He further explained that the age limit should be raised to 35 years, a common practice worldwide, underscoring the necessity for the nation to nurture the dreams of its citizens rather than killing it.
